Community Collaboration of Delaware Spreads Holiday Cheer with "CCD's Holiday Hoopla 5k" Along the Delaware River
New Castle, Delaware – On a crisp and festive Sunday morning, Community Collaboration of Delaware (CCD) orchestrated a spectacular event, "CCD's Holiday Hoopla 5k," bringing together residents and runners from near and far. The 5-kilometer walk/run unfolded along the historic Delaware River at 125 Chestnut Street in Bull Hill Park, New Castle, on December 10th, 2023.
The scenic route wound through the heart of Historic New Castle, adorned with holiday decorations and the joyful spirit of the season. Participants, donned in holiday-themed attire, added a splash of festive color to the charming streets as they embarked on the spirited journey.
Among the participants, a few remarkable runners stood out as the winners of the "CCD's Holiday Hoopla 5k." The Overall Champion title went to Gavin Gibson, who crossed the finish line in an impressive 17 minutes and 19 seconds. Nic Civarelli secured the 2nd Overall Male position with a time of 19:42, closely followed by Sean Coleman at 19:51, claiming the 3rd Overall Male spot.
On the female front, Katie Barksdale emerged as the 1st Overall Female, clocking in at an excellent time of 23:02. Libby Chmielewski secured the 2nd Overall Female position with a time of 23:55, while Savanah Yeager claimed the 3rd Overall Female spot, finishing strong at 24:03.
The success of "CCD's Holiday Hoopla 5k" was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, with LabWare, Inc leading the way as the main event sponsor.
