In the heart of Historic New Castle, Delaware, a collaborative effort between New Castle Public Library, Prime Time Reading and Community Collaboration of Delaware (CCD) has brought the joy of literature and humanities to families in the community.
Prime Time Reading programs, aimed at fostering a love for reading and learning in children and their families, have found a welcoming home at the New Castle Library, thanks to the support and funding from Delaware Humanities and the dedicated efforts of numerous volunteers.
Prime Time Reading programs serve as a bridge connecting families with the humanities through carefully curated storytelling sessions and discussions. The goal is to lay the groundwork for a lifelong appreciation of literature and education. Hosted by local community organizations like the New Castle Public Library, these programs are offered after school, providing families with an opportunity for quality bonding and engagement.
Delaware Humanities, in collaboration with New Castle Public library, facilitated the introduction of Prime Time Family Reading to New Castle. This initiative brought together families in the community for evenings filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of reading. The program included engaging storytelling and discussions with trained staff members while also providing attendees with warm dinners, free books, door prizes, and much more.
The success of the program was made possible through the collaborative efforts of various entities. The New Castle Library Friends played a pivotal role by donating book prizes and volunteering on program days. Additionally, local businesses such as Porto-Fino Pizza & Restaurant, The Mercury Cafe and Teahouse provided healthy meals for the participating families. A special thank you to Ms. Ewa for all the time an effort she put into making this program a success.
